VALUE PRECIOUS STRANDS OF LIFE’S
MOMENTS
_A P ANAND
THINK NOT AS TO HOW
MANY MOMENTS ARE THERE IN YOUR LIFE,
BUT THINK AS TO HOW MUCH
LIFE IS THERE IN THESE MOMENTS.
Life is a battlefield and to win the
battle we should soak and penetrate the moments with virtues. We should put the
evil moments, causes and circumstances on mat with our will-power to give
purposeful meaning, relish and sparkle life instead of spoiling it. Some say
that our life span is made up of fixed breaths and some say of moments. Whatever
is the truth, these moments play an important role in our life like foundation
stones which can strengthen or weaken our life. Growing moment by moment or bit
by bit in life is like constructing the house brick by brick in upward
direction for attaining bliss. The moments of our life are full of joys and
sorrows. While the earlier said ones inspire us and are etched in our minds as
pleasures; the latter ones being dreadful, sting and haunt us badly. These
valuable moments are in the form of rare opportunity granted to us by Supreme
Lord to mend our ways for the present and future life and thus we should not
allow them to slip away from our hands. There is a lot of healthy and joyful
life in these moments in our nurturing; including morals and ethics, if
properly guided and we are kissed with spirituality. Life without purpose is
like a vagabond. A single short moment can change the situation or make a twist
of fate in our life and that is why we, very often, use the word, “in a quirk”
or “in a jiffy.” We drift ahead or back-track in life span according to our
situations and how we handle them to shape life. Some flow with the wind of
moments and circumstances but some remain unfazed and are prepared to suffer
due to their, so called, principles. The present moment is most important to
act as the past is gone and the future is unpredictable.
These moments of life are more
important for growth of wisdom than the physical state. At the time of death we
count and pray at the last moments of life for sustenance which, very often,
changes someone’s fate for the words spoken by a dying person, called dying
declaration. In a country like India, where most of the people are
superstitious and are plagued with myths and unfounded faiths etc. , we always think
and perform certain tasks at an “ appropriate moment” (good omen) for our
success. The moments slipping away from our hands never return and that is why
it is said, “Make hay while the sun shines.” The dark and bright moments in our
life may be fleeting ones but there is a lot to learn from them. One should keep in mind that the events
taking place in our life are not under our control but under God. We should be
careful about “Karma” (deeds/ actions) theory based on cause and effect.
If we don’t care for these small but
important moments and mend our fences, our life will remain in a vacuum or may
create ripples in our life journey. Some people forge unity and faith in others
which gives a lot of joy and satisfaction but when a link is broken due to
breach of trust a burn-out syndrome takes place which spoils our whole life.
Many types of moments, situations and
events arise in our life. The main obstacles are ignorance, rancor, ego, anger,
hatred and revenge etc., like multi pronged self-destructive weapons which
cause our fall and turn us topsy- turvy and derail life. If one misses the
favourable moments of grace by God it will be construed as “missing the bus to
reach our destination of life.” In case these moments create discard, one may
distance from life, remain alienated and face symptoms of bipolar disorder. Some
ugly moments are unforgettable.
Life becomes yummy if you are awake,
enlightened and equipoise and your love is healthy and platonic, your spoken
words at all occasions are properly weighed and guarded making you a cynosure
of all. If you are careful, have instinct to control and command the moments of
life you can avoid a lot of chaos. Those who draw battle lines against life’s
moments suffer a lot. Let us create wonderful moments in life to become
quintessence so that the present and future generations emulate us and we leave
behind a legacy of goodwill. Let us hug the moments in a better way. Also we
should tread the moments of life carefully so that we cross it’s choppy and
stormy ocean and reach its embankment with ease. Some commit suicide, just to
escape from their woes on frivolous reasons. It is nothing but colossal waste
of meaningful life. Any event or moment touched by Divine grace becomes benign
and auspicious. Mind it that you came in this world alone and will go back to
your source (God) alone. Your stay, relations and connections here are
transitory. Life is like a bubble which can burst at any moment, known to Him
only.
