ENERGY SAPPING AND INFLICTING
DECISIONS
_ A P ANAND
In this entrenched world, as far as
sight goes, we see foggy atmosphere only instead of fragrant one. Life is
stagnant. God, earth and heaven are silent spectators of our awful miseries.
Life is not frolicsome all the way. There is anarchy. Our life’s passages are
very delicate, iffy, rugged, bumpy, meandering, lopsided and full of darkness
and horrors. They are also strewn with many wild beasts, stinging insects and
hydra headed animals with fangs trying to devour us in a moment/ fluke. We
cannot, always, kill them but can avoid with tact, skill and by alluring.
Life’s journey can be treaded smoothly with love and faith. Only those with
determination will be successful. Some learn lessons from their own problems,
some from others and still some from none which is a tragedy of life. Sometimes
you don’t take decisions and risks for your own affairs and bank upon the mercy
of your ill-advisors and so called mentors/ guides/ counsels who may ditch you
or down-play by taking undue advantage of your lapses and keep you under their
control. It is, therefore, advisable to remain in the company of selfless
visionaries and discipline yourself by subjugating the sense organs. This way
none will exercise his influence and control to hijack your interests. Some may
take brazen decisions for you to avenge their enmity. Your actions should be
thoughtful and farsighted but not mercurial. Contrary to this, your energy and
enthusiasm will be completely drained making you dull but not witty. There is
always pain before pleasure. It is also said, “No pains, no gains.” Think as to
how much painful and laborious it is for the honey bee while sapping nectar
from the flowers to collect sweet honey. Please also remember that our God
Father has laid difficulties on our way to chasten us. One is not lacking power
but determinatiosn and patience to win the goal.
To take firm and fruitful decision
one has to reach the bottom of truth. The decisions should be balanced and not
tilting un-necessarily in favour of someone or something. Many
(2)
thoughtless decisions
prove deterrent. We don’t succeed in perfect decision making when our frame of
mind is ‘chained’ , unhealthy and not intact. It is an established fact that
haste makes waste. We should, therefore, resolve intricate issues with care and
patience to avoid worries at later stage. Taking apt decisions in the matters
of corruption, sex, plundering of money, un-necessary harassment and delay in
disposing court cases are the need of hour.
A Chinese proverb says, “Dig well
much before you are thirsty.” So, do everything before- hand to avoid troubles.
A Christian scripture says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the
proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up”…..(Galatians 6:9). In
the same way, William B. Given Jr. has said, “When possible make the decisions
now, even if action is in future. A reviewed decision usually is better than
one reached at the last moment.” It was a timely decision and wisdom of India’s
first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, who started industrial and
green revolution of our country to uplift the living standard of our people.
Sometimes, people usurp/ misappropriate the money and property of others by
clandestine means, and if proper care is not taken in time, the matter goes to
tardy court and becomes tiresome to deal with. If one remains alert, calm and
even during difficult times, he can overcome them successfully. It is better to
control life by ourselves and not depend upon others.
If the decisions are not taken in
time and the problems are not nipped in bud with wisdom, one will be tossed
with crossed currents of number of miseries and joys. Life will become barren
and we will be alienated from the main stream of society and we will be hit by
many turbulent thrashes and knotty problems in life. Hasty and un-planned
actions/ passing sweeping decisions result in many other ordeals, mayhems,
flare ups, confusion and stampede and will clog our many systems. They will
result in besmirching the show/plans and
(3)
will keep you on an
uneven keel. Even while taking important decision of our life-long relations of
marriage, we many times make haste and don’t give pre-thought. The two families
merging at the time come from different up-bringing (‘Sanskaras’), views/
mindset/ ‘karmas’ (deeds) which may clash. Their art of living, commitments,
co-operation, adjustment, tolerance, culture/ sentiment/ background and manners
may differ. Please think about the results if they are not compatible. In such
an event the relations are full of irritations, there being a breakdown in the
sacred bondage of marriage which reaches the irretrievable point and both
sides, of boy and girl, land in protracted fight in court, not without pre-fire
work, making the relations as a hell. The unbearable circumstances may lead to
suicidal tendency in the couple.
Gita is giving us the message of
courage and that accepting weakness is a sin. It is well known that God helps
those who help themselves. Please remember with Interest what an American
astronaut, of Indian origin, Sunita William, expressed in her home town in
Gujarat with joy over her earlier daring ventures in space and her eagerness to
go to moon. It is her sheer courage which has made her proud and famous. She is
a daredevil. The unbiased, discerning and well thought over qualities in our
life cause impetus to our plans. They also soothe our frayed nerves, make us
head-honcho, thrifty, pious and peaceful. We avoid harsh and provocative words.
Thus we can avoid many brawls, rivalry, violence and war due to our
intelligence, patience and skill. At the same time the rightful blows in our
life release the dormant power/ energy. It is rightly said that blessed is the
man who perseveres under trial because when he has stood the test, he will
receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him. Apart,
education is for achieving morals, ethics, niceties and sensitivities.
Education plays an important role in one’s life to remove ignorance and know
the truth. It should be gained at an appropriate time to avoid sapping of
energy due to hard work later on. Also you should have an instinct, skill and
tact to win the hearts of others.

The results of wrong or un-thoughtful
decision making are before us. Difficulties affect one’s motivation. One will
lose grip of thrill and become irritated, obstinate, defiant/ offensive and
lead sedentary life. These cause detraction of mind, frustration and thus
upheavals (disruption), uprisings and everything becomes topsy- turvy. People
will make undue use of your problems and derive rapture (great pleasure).
Everything becomes awry (upset) and we are battered/ smothered/ trampled upon/
stomped and face lashes of bad luck. The problems dissipate our energy. Our
health and education problems are completely neglected and the perverted minds
have not turned attention towards spirituality to mend our ways from the path
of hatred, disbelief, dispassion, haste and many sinister designs which have
thrown us to an abyss and wilderness.
Please, always, remember that God is
bliss and we will live in harmony and solidarity if we obey His shown path. He
is Creator and Terminator. Even Alexander the Great who had conquered around
half of the world with courage and determination left a wise lesson of
detachment at the time of his death by showing empty hands that he was not
taking anything with him from the world. Lord has blessed us with intellect and
discerning power to use it for our benefit in taking decisions which we hardly
do. Don’t leave everything to Him and repent your luck later on for your own
follies of taking erroneous decisions. He helps those who help themselves. Luck
is in your hands which becomes favourable by doing virtuous deeds. Lord has
kept certain things like destiny, birth, death including soul and happiness
under His own control. He has gifted His grace and bounties amongst His chosen
ones according to their virtuous deeds. His decisions are final, irreversible
and cannot be questioned/ challenged. It is our bounden duty to take care for
up-bringing of our children at an appropriate time as they are an asset of the
nation. When the stroke of luck is not favourable to us or when we are in the
grip of ill-omens or incurring of divine displeasure or we are in unholy
alliance with someone and Force Majeure is also against us, no power on earth
can save us from the
(5)
onslaught. Thus,
surrender to Him completely. Place humbly your petition of difficulties before
Him. He will come to your rescue and resolve them. It is said, “Ask and it
shall be given to you”……(Luke 11.9). It is also said that it is immaterial even
if the whole world is against you but Almighty. God has blessed us with
splendid Nature, not only a visual treat and casting magic spell on us but
Nature has provided us with many basic things of life, free of cost. We dream,
conceive and take decisions to invent new things for our use and comforts.
Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty !
It is up to us to stem our rot if we
wish to bask in the glory of success. Self-discipline, pre-planning and timely
actions work wonders in our life. If uncared, life will boo on our face. Life
is not totally free of miseries and troubles but with lesser ones it is an
excitement and one enjoys placid (not easily upset) life. A lot of restraint is
required to control the nervous system and to duck the oncoming problems/
tantrums/ rattles. The decisions/ plans not related to the poor will not uplift
the society. We must pay debt to our motherland, by contributing our mite,
which is bleeding of corruption and other black deeds. Let us accumulate cool
dew, moist love with it and spread it in the furrows of Lord’s garden in the
world to sparkle life of others. We should, often, write balance-sheet of life
to judge our progress and introspect, especially, over erosion of values to
leave the world a better vibrant place for others.
