LIFE MANAGEMENT THROUGH MIND MANAGEMENT
--A P ANAND
It is undoubtedly proved that our
brain (an organ of soft grey matter in the skull of our body) is the root cause
of our sorrows and pleasures. Its condition depends upon our mind and thinking,
reasoning, intelligence, faculty in positive or negative direction. Though mind
is an abstract form and functional aspect of brain it affects and nourishes our
brain. Thus to keep our mind in proper form it is necessary to take care of
brain otherwise one will be afflicted with TB, epilepsy, seizures, convulsions,
dehydration, loss of consciousness, meningitis (infection of brain) and fever
etc. Our brain acts as a repository of thoughts and emotions and hence it
should be receptive. Brain’s condition affects our body’s natural rhythm due to
stress or happiness. When we are in pleasure, the chemicals called opioids are
released in brain which is desired for saner section of the society. Imbalance
of hormones (Amygdale) in brain makes us mentally ill like autism, fear,
depression, schizophrenia (withdrawal from reality), Alzheimer, phobias and
psychosis etc. This hormone increases blood pressure to a wild stage of about
200/ 130. Brain is made up of neurons which die due to old age, in stages, and
do not replace unless some mental and progressive exercises are regularly done.
Our mind, its condition
and its activities have a great bearing on our brain. Everything we wish to
perform is first conceptualized/ visualized through mind. Unfortunately, our
mind vacillates due to its fickle nature. To avoid neurological problems it is
necessary to train, discipline, tame and subjugate the mind. If not taken care,
one will become a bipolar (mood disorder) personality. Foisting off neuroses is
necessary to take off mental illness and depression. It is also necessary to avoid
burn-out syndrome due to which chemicals and hormones in our body reduce and
change our behavior like becoming grouchy, silent, shooting out others,
withdrawn and loss of appetite etc. In short, it makes you a shallow person. If
the mind is chilled it can function wisely and faster. We should, therefore,
negate the negative thoughts lodged deeply in our mind. It is well recognized
that one who is having control on himself/ herself and the mind can win the
whole world. So, be a Master of your mind and don’t dance to its tunes. The
chemicals released in our body due to happiness are called serotonins and endorphins
which are good for motivation and carry messages and the chemicals released due
to sadness are called dopamine producing low and hyper syndrome due to which
our character is riddled with many flaws like suicidal tendency etc. Oxitocin
is love hormone which promotes social bonding and trust. Testosterone is the
male sex
hormone which affects the quality and
quantity of sleep. Mind is also responsible for the urge of extra sex and lust
which creates many mental problems. This vital potential energy/ fire and force
can be utilized for selfless service of mankind with perfected mind.
In life every moment is desired to be
full of smiles and happiness but instead there are logjams everywhere on every
issue. Violence erupts where patience is not observed or does not work. It is
all due to our mind-set which requires drastic change and transformation. Our
life should act as momentous encounter for any situation. Our propensities
(inclinations) should change for betterment. Our mundane eyes are incapable of
knowing the Truth. Have we ever thought as to how the cosmic activities are
working in perfect order and accord under the command of their Creator and why
we cannot do so? We have to imbibe benign manners, morals and ethics compounded
with love and faith towards God, our Supreme Father and Saviour. Physical
science and spirituality, both, are engaged in the quest of attaining
happiness, truth and welfare of all living entities but, so far, we have not
reached the goal in perfect order.
When we depart from the harmonious
ways of the nature we face many odds including crippling diseases. Also due to
negligence and carelessness towards our mind-set our behavior becomes reckless.
We become indecisive, bigot (prejudiced and intolerant), wanton (lack of
restraint) and a person of crisp satire. Our consistency in thinking is lost
and we cut sorry figure as we suffer from the anger monster, ego and many other
complexes compounded with tension, loneliness and unsocializing. This way one’s
energy will be completely sapped leaving him/ her without motivation. On the
contrary, meeting of positive minds will work wonders.
Our nature should be affable
(polite and friendly) to pull on with everyone and for bonding with others for
personal and cultural relations. Socializing makes the life scintillating
without which one will drift apart from the main stream of life. Through
spiritual wisdom and control of emotions our thoughts and deeds sublimate and
this helps in our level play in life due to which one will be called ‘Padma’ or
lotus (a symbol of ‘satyam’, ‘shivam’ and ‘sundaram’) which remains above the
mire though growing in it or like a dew drop which floats over the leaf as a
separate identity. Lotus is also a treat to the eyes. One’s spiritual wisdom
will keep one aside even in the deafening crowd. Due to performing prayer or contemplation with focus and mental
nourishment we take mental flight to know and reach Almighty God and to know
the real purpose of our life. Prayer with concentration makes one a composed
personality and the balanced mind results in happiness. With silent vows, very
often, we conserve the energy and cultivate will power and grit for healthy and
useful life. To maintain healthy life and mind we need consumption of
nutritious food. Love is mightier than ego and the loving person will
compromise with flexibility whenever and wherever possible. A person with such
traits will boldly surmount many problems and face challenges without
dithering.
Spirituality is not only to iron out
the wrinkles of life but soaking/ drenching it completely redeems our soul and
to gain ‘Moksha’ (liberation) .Some cast doubts and are confused about
prevalence of God who is unseen with the naked eyes. Such persons are tossed
here and there due to vagaries of life and lack of faith. To pour divine
thoughts in mind, one has to evacuate the existing dross lying embedded in it,
filter it out and then imbibe the squeezed remnant purity and detoxified
substances in life to rejuvenate it. All these misconceptions and doubts can be
cleared with the help and guidance of a ‘Sat Guru’ (True Master) through his
divine discourses for enlightenment. Once one instills firm faith in one’s True
Master, he will embrace the ardent devotee (acolyte) and get him (devotee) the
glimpse of Supreme Lord. He may take devotee’s problems on his own shoulders.
Thus, ultimately, the devotee will be coloured in the hue of his True Master
and will embellish his life with humble traits like selfless service,
compassion, love, tolerance and forgiveness etc. He will surrender to the will
of God and thank Him for His grace. One can loot Lord’s bounties and pleasures,
if one can. An opportunity is given in life which should not slip away. He will
treat everyone with equanimity and see a speck of divine light everywhere. He
will help in bonding the parting/ separating/ cracking hearts. Above all he
will feel pleasure in suffering pain (masochism) for the sake of others and his
own adversities may turn to providence. His presence of mind and timely help
will avert many disasters.
With strong will power one can get
rid of even the irresistible and unwanted desires and addictions. One should
leave behind an imprint of noble deeds and myriad of good feelings on the minds
of followers to emulate him/ her. One will be satiated of one’s wishes if one
chants His name and glorify Him every now and then. The author earnestly hopes
and prays that all of us will lead the life of magnanimity and come out of the
present dark era successfully. Amen! **********************************************************
