PLEASANT SUCCESS THROUGH EFFORTS
--A P ANAND
To do something, an idea, first rises
in the mind like a tidal wave and then it is hatched. Conceptualizations are an
attempt and desire to do something. The achievers do not wait any longer but
start working on their dreams and ambitions immediately as they know that time
does not wait for anything and anybody. They are neither slaves of times nor of
circumstances but over-power them with will. Great hopes make great men
provided they don’t become despondent but go on trying to achieve their goal.
Also courage and verve are grace or divine force under pressure. Did our great
martyrs and revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru, Veer Savarkar and
their associates wait to attempt to achieve independence of India? They lit the
spark of independent India and later on Nehru, Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Subhash
Chandra Bose and many other grave thinkers ‘picked up the thread’ and achieved
goal, though through many efforts, diplomacy and by undergoing many sorts of
torture. These men were the torch-bearers and knew well that every achievement
gives direction to a new endeavour. They also knew that the cowards die many
times before death. Let our spirits to maintain our hard earned true freedom
not dampens. Fred Shero said, ‘Success is not the result of spontaneous
combustion. You must, first, set yourself on fire’. Attempt is a bit of
optimism. It reflects bright side.’
One does not get success at first
endeavour but to attempt is the first step of achieving success. Someone has
rightly said that there are no secrets to success. It is the result of
preparation, hard work and learning from attempts and failures. Attempt should
be consistent as, sometimes, it takes longer time to achieve the desired
result. If your attempt in doing something earlier has flopped, try again as
you are anew today. The famous scientist, Einstein, has correctly said that
success and failure of life cannot be judged by its achievements but by the
efforts you make in patience, confidence and faith in self. Sir Edmund Hillary,
a New Zealander, had passion to climb Mount Everest (8850 metre summit) in
1953. He faced three failures before this but did not lose heart. There is hope
in success provided we try with sincerity, utter endeavour and endurance. Also
failure is deferred success and fertilizer for ultimate goal. With daring and
calculated attempts (not tardy/ slow) you need not search and grope in the
dark, your target. Even if a few initial efforts fail, do not fail to make
efforts. None is perfect in life. The sincere and truthful always attempt to
improve upon their past to make the life lively and stand on high pedestal. The
complete path of achieving success is encapsulated
in these lines of Swami Vivekananda, “If my mind can believe it, my heart can
receive it, my hands can do for it, yes, I know, I am going to achieve it.” We
have learnt a lot from the spider to achieve success while it’s ascending a
wall after falling back a number of times but never losing heart. So, rise
above like a phoenix from the ashes and show the world, the real you.
A successful person makes a habit of
doing what a failing person does not like to do or even try………Thomas A. Edison.
Those of pussy-footing never achieve
anything. Making an attempt shows your determination to achieve something.
Attempting to ride the horse without a fall is tasteless. The harder you fall,
the higher you bounce. Practice only makes for improvement and perfection. With
every step and attempt the long and tiring distance reduces. Even the child
falls and falters off and on in the beginning before standing firmly on his/
her own feet. While writing a first letter, may be of love, you fear, doubt and
your hands shake but all these deficiencies vanish with determination.
Success is sure for a person who is
focused towards his/her goal. Success through strenuous efforts results in
crowning glory. Even Lord glorifies a person who attempts a bit to serve the
mankind without seeking fruit. Effort with patience, firmness, discernment and
wisdom, sometimes, brings success in the first and single leap. Also one’s
effort with wisdom results in crossing the ocean of life unscathed. Those who
try again and again, have faith in themselves and manifest infinite power win
the game of life. Those who gain something without putting effort spoil the
pleasures of life. Success achieved through trials and tribulations is sweet,
relishing, memorable and gives utmost satisfaction to the body and soul.
Success is not measured by what you accomplish but by the struggles you faced
to overcome the problems. All scientists, engineers and researchers are
regularly trying to eliminate many diseases and invent new items for our
comforts/ health preservation etc. through trials, errors and tests etc.
The striver of spirituality also
attempts and fails several times at initial stage but with resolution in mind
succeeds at the end to know the real purpose of taking birth in the world
and knowing self. The
true seeker always sees Lord’s bounties strewn everywhere in the world through
his/ her vision and faith. We come to this world alone with empty hands, amass
wealth and materials to provide us comforts, all due to our efforts, to gain
name and fame but, surprisingly, leave this world with the materials beheld here
only. Money earned without efforts is of insignificant value and not sacred. It
slips through earner’s hands very fast. It is not out of place to mention here
that success gained for pleasure, for the heck of it or by annexing someone’s
property/ land etc. by slaying some innocent people, by force or cheating,
leaves indelible impact on the mind of perpetrator. The glaring examples of
king Asoka after Kalinga war and Alexandar the Great after winning many states
in India are significant and reminder to us. When one culminates the
spirituality, he/ she is canonized and comes near to God. In case the
scientists and spiritualists work together, many successes and glory can be
achieved for the benefit of mankind.
