SEEN AN UNSEEN

SEEN AN UNSEEN
                                                                     _A P ANAND
Swami Yogananda said, “Faith means and is proof of existence of things unseen.” Have you ever thought, looked inwardly, found out and admired as to who is behind the hidden power who is so nicely managing the affairs of the whole world. Is it possible for you and me to do so? We firmly believe that sugar is hidden in sugar-cane, butter and calcined butter in milk and electricity in water/coal/wind/nuclear fuel etc. though these hidden entities are not seen with naked eyes. In the same way soul is the vital energy in our body during life span which is realized but not seen. Soul is injected as a gift by Lord Supreme who is Omnis at the time of our birth. Even the medical doctor, under compulsion, says, “I treat, He cures.” The saint says, “I pray, He graces.” Is it not a folly on our part to believe in the shows of a magician/trickster who produces something in his hands in zooming or microscopic state coming from nowhere, creating ex-nihilo or in the placebo effect of a doctor on the patient though both these actions are only illusion and boggle our mind? In algebra we use the alphabet ‘X’ as supposition/ hypothesis/ unknown to solve many intricate questions. Also we use the mathematical constant π (Pi) to solve many questions. It is only an ego, attachment and ignorance which are curse on us and are road blocks in our life to know the Truth. In the beginning many confusions and hurdles arise but our strenuous and sincere efforts will dispel the darkness and everything will, ultimately, become crystal clear. Nature and faith help us to know God and our purpose of life. In fact, Nature is true preceptor. We have learnt a lot from it for our advancement. Also death is the best teacher to understand the meaning of life. No one knows about the exact moment, place and circumstances of one’s birth and death. No one should play God like Hiranyakasipu which is sin and falsehood. Only He is Dispenser of our life/breath. Even Pope Benedict said on 17.4.2011 that man will pay the price for his pride if he believes that technology can give him the power of God.

As said above, Lord is manifest through Nature and faith. The sun, moon, and stars rise and set in each part of the world, at an appropriate time, without fail or lethargy, under the command of their Master who is propelling them and who is unseen with our naked eyes. Think, what will happen in case the sun descends too low to scorch us or does not shine at all? The life will become horrible or decimate us all together. The sun brightens our life and we can harness it for our betterment. There will be no rain and no produce without sun. At night when we gaze skywards our jangled nerves become calm due to the coolness of twinkling starry nights. Please think as to who is creating fluffy and dreadful (cirrus) clouds and inky and golden hues in the sky? Who is holding the huge sized canopy of the sky without props? Who is
sustaining colossal weight of earth and its inhabitants and water in dams, rivers and seas etc.? Who is managing/ controlling the tossing and rising monster tides of the sea?

When you enter the garden in the morning have you ever thought as to who welcomes and captivates you smilingly? These are the flowers of different hues and vibrant colours grown by Lord Supreme with the help of soil, water and sun-rays including lush green plants and trees. To whom credit should go for creating different designs in natural beauty? The scene being blissful your face lights up and you will experience nostalgia. Your clogged arteries will open up. During the spring season the natural scene fills colour and gaiety in our mood and we celebrate Holi—a festival of colours. Also Navroze is celebrated on first day of Spring season in all Central Asian countries. Who is behind creating this wonderful spectacle other than God?

The towering and swirling willow, pine and palm trees with ferns bear the blast of gusty winds and grand sand dunes in the desert produce tranquil atmosphere and add beauty to the region. These overwhelm the onlookers to cheer their mood. The tranquil and hypnotic scenes depict grace and majesty of Lord Supreme. The wacky weeds, nettles and acacia trees are found in the deserts which serve as feed to animals. All sun shine makes a desert where calm descends and many lives throb. While people soak in the sweat, the camel, which is also called the ship of the desert feeds on leafy trees and thistle bearing bushes ( being a Herbaceous animal ), can keep a stock of water in its body for about a month to meet its needs in the blistering heat.

Many birds like flamingos migrate from hot atmospheric countries to wetlands flapping and fluttering covering thousands of miles conversing/chirping pleasingly but, unfortunately, man has created barriers and cocoons around himself with uneasy approachable borders with other countries though Nature/God blessed us with one common earth and one sky etc.

Those who believe in God, sense His hand everywhere. When something untoward or mysterious/ charisma happens, many jaws drop/ eye-brows raised in awe. Also, many times, one astonishes when the cause remains a mystery forever. Have we not seen many resurrecting
lives or their release from the jaws of death? Who has injected sweet, salty, tartly and sour tastes in variety of food items? What is the reason that many times we find sweet water very
close to the brackish water of the sea? How is that the same brackish sea water produces sweets dates and coconuts and turns this water in sweetness in the form of rain? The thorny cactus plant in the desert contains sweet water which helps in quenching thirst of the way-farers. Who is doing photosynthetic activity in the leaves and flowers? Has anybody, so far, completely understood even the anatomy of the human body and its intricacies? The answer to many above said questions lies only in the faith/belief about the presence of some Hidden Power, God. Water is considered as nectar which gives life to us, trees and plants to boost and enhance our mood and longevity. It is our life-line. Rivers, seas, earth, sky, forests and mountains etc. are the exploits/ pranks of Supreme Lord and bestowals for humanity.

If one contemplates on divine knowledge one will get answers to all intricacies of life. By instilling true faith in Him one will attain supreme position in life, free from all worries. Life is a gift from God and we have to utilize it properly and wisely and decorate it with virtues. Those who go to His threshold obtain gratitude, propitiations and benevolence in their kitty.

The recent happenings in Japan due to nuclear disaster of high magnitude and tsunami battering everything in a jiffy in spite of many advances in science and technology, act as a wake-up clarion call. Mankind is sulking and looking like a smouldering wick in despair due to own faults by treading wrong paths in life. We have reached the epitome of unfairness which Lord does not approve. His triggering a small remote-control button of dissent is sufficient to liquidate us. Sometimes we wonder whether God is punishing us or chastising us. Have we ever cared to listen to Him? Everything veers around our ‘karmas’ (actions). We are blind till the time we have His vision. May the wise counsel prevail upon all of us.
