DEVOTION—A TRICKLING DIVINE
ELIXIR
(A SACRED PATH TO TREAD TO
BECOME A “KARMAYOGI”)
--A P ANAND
Life without
devotion is barren. It is not juicy. Life, in real sense, should progress with
devotional impact from trickling to torrents and in the form of a jet
step-by-step. One cannot gain any thing in life unless one is devoted to it to
the core with dedication. Life without devotion is inactive and like a living
dead. A trickling devotion is no doubt a slow process but it reminds us the
dictum which says that slow and steady wins the race. A trickling devotion
blooms, fructifies and exudes its fragrance all around. Devotion acts like a
magnetic force to attract even the opposing person. The actions of a devout are
like nutrients for the soul and lead to selfless service for a humble cause.
Devotion to Supreme God is like a connection of string in one’s hand at one end
and to a kite at the other end. This way one is having direct connection to
God. One leads sucked life without any purpose and commitment. One will lead
loony and gloomy life if one is bereft of these traits of devotion, which are
valuable assets of life. Also to maintain cordial relations in the family and
society it is very important and necessary for all of us to have concerns,
unflinching devotion and sense of duty for one another. Apart from above, a
devotee is also required to burn his ego and pride. This is pre-requisite.
Devotion towards god is like a libation to Him. It also strengthens the
devotee’s faith in Him like a retaining wall does to a dilapidated building.
One cannot
devote to anything/ anybody without healthy thoughts. He is transparent at
heart and mind and can bring heaven on earth due to his nature and uniting
abilities. He is always in the service of his Lord and His creation. Also, this
way, the devotees will gather together, discuss, remove their apprehensions and
inculcate the habit of living in unity in diversity and enjoy festivities to
avoid conflicts. He has the ability even to melt down the hardest heart. The
real devotee will pour out his feelings and groans to the Omnipotent Lord who
will address his all problems.
A wise
devotee is aware that life is not permanent in the transitory and mortal/
perishable world and his refuge, anchorage and abode is elsewhere with the
Creator. Under the circumstances he (devotee) has to accept “shrangatti’
(complete surrender) of Super Power, the holy Father. He will see, realize and
understand the power, splendor/ grandeur/ glory and manifestation of Lord with
devotion and will use his third discerning eye of wisdom/ spiritual

intellect as blunt senses cannot do so. He will have a
quantum jump to reach God. The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies
proclaim the work of His hands (Psalm 19:1). Also He has shown kindness by
giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; He provides you with
plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy (Acts 14:17). It was only a
sanctified devotion and longing of Shabari that Rama, himself, reached her
doorstep. Deuteronomy 31:8 also proclaims the same faith. It was the same
devotion of Prahlada that Lord, Narsimha, appeared bursting the severe hot
pillar to save him from the tyranny of his torturous father, Hirnakasipu, by
ripping him apart. For He stands at the right hand of the needy one, to save
his life from those who condemn him (Psalm 109:31).
Let us not
forget the pangs of Meera due to sheer platonic devotional love for and
separation from Lord Krishna which reached the pinnacle. She was extremely
fascinated towards Him and often used to inebriate and always chant His name or
sing songs in His glory. She was totally enveloped in fire flames of love for
the Lord and became His protégé. She started igniting devotional eternal fire
(“Dhooni”) to absolve past sins in Brindaban only.
There are many Brownie, opulent and benevolent
points attributed to devotion. Devotion makes one humble. It brings one closer
or attaches to saints/ clerics and assembly of learned persons for a good cause
and for leading full life. It causes firm faith in someone and inquisitive
devotee evades/ desists from asking purposeless/ meaningless questions. He is
dutiful and endear to all. A devout can only achieve targets. It makes one
renewed, changed and distinguished/ oracle with healthy mind. It removes one’s
inner rages/ ferocious tempers and replaces them with love, understanding and
affection. It will snap you out of depression, restlessness and ego. It leads
you to dispassion, mild and soft hearted person. One becomes a man of
perseverance and his endurance reaches the peak point step-by-step. His actions
will be modest, trustworthy, of piety and godly. He will become a person of
hoary disposition (divine figure) and possessed in devotion of God. He will
also become a delightful personality as he is assuaged/ drenched in devotion.
Devotion
cannot be forced upon anyone. It should bloom in the heart and mind. One’s
dynamics will change to spirituality and betterment in the long run. Devotion
to God brings stunning experiences of life due to heavenly influence and
increase of self-esteem. The feelings of ups and down do not block/ obstruct
the progress. The devotees of God may be from
(3)
different religions but have one pointed purpose of serving
humanity. The Holy Spirit always works/ throbs in their hearts. The real
devotee’s image will always be studded in the eyes of Lord and He will do
everything to safeguard his interests. The devotee is blessed by God who turns
to Him and sacrifices everything, including his comforts. Such a devotee will
redeem himself and be transformed to spice up life. God will oust devotee’s
inner diabolic energies, erase the vengeful traits from life and blot his sins.
He will suitably award him at the time of final dissolution. The devotee will
bask in Lord’s glory forever and reach His impressive portal soon. Devotion,
faith and intelligence remove our many illusions and bring us closer to God.
This way one is completely drenched in the pure love (bliss) of God. The life
becomes luscious and starts swirling as the seed has now taken the shape of
crop in the field of our heart. Let the Lord be with you forever. You need to
give little wind to your devotion towards Him. Your worries will be singed and
assuaged soon and your desires will be satiated. Your flexible habits will make
you a qualitative and versatile personality__ real propitiated “Karmayogi”. He
will not harm any animate or inanimate creation of Lord.
