EVER FLOWING LIFE

mulaqaat ka anjaam judai kiyon hai

the result of every meeting is separation )
Ab to har waqat yahee baat satati hai hamen
( Now
always this question craves/disturbs our mind, for answer )
The above lines from an Urdu ode are
deep rooted and ask us to think as to why death (“anjaam”)comes after birth (
“mulaqaat”).
God has provided male and female the
ability for continuance of His creation and its continuum (gradual
development).Everything which has a beginning has an end also. Our life is like
a bubble which cannot last forever but has to burst at the will of God to take
another shape. Vedic sages also found that everything which blooms in the world
is also, ultimately, to decay. Buddhist scriptures say that human life is a
step-by-step journey towards death. Swami Ramsukhadas said, “The product of an
action results in a union and separation. Whatever is done is not permanent.”
Someone has rightly said that if we do not believe in ‘Karma’ (actions) and
rebirth theory, our present life becomes meaningless and purposeless. Life is
not devoid of some higher purpose. Self-realization is the goal of life with
bliss and joy. Life is enthusiasm and a journey between birth and death.
God has granted life-span to us to
take heartful of sacred bath in it and get rid of our dross of vices to enjoy
life here and hereafter. We should live with hope, faith, love, harmony and
resolve. Having trust, loyalty, focus and relationship means that you have
purpose in life and positive attitude for advancement and flow. All this is
extremely necessary for the spirit of oneness (solidarity) by doing humanistic
activities even transcending all sorts of boundaries.
Unfortunately, we are driven by some
external forces and not mania of divine forces. We waste our precious gem-like
life in trivial matters. God has given us unknown set amount
of time at our
disposal. The world is like an inn for us to stay here in transit .God wants
many sacrifices from us like control of senses and virtuous deeds with wisdom
to weave our life fabric with fine and glowing strands. He has created sorrows
and sufferings also for our advancement. Life is full of surprises, pleasant
and unpleasant, but the devout, still, yearn for God’s love.
Our childhood acts like a rainy
season when the buds bloom into a fragrant, smiling and rocking flower. During
this period we are as tender, naïve/ innocent like a lamb cared and loved by
everyone.
During young age we are like spring season
or like a rising sun as this period is of twilight years, overflowing with
powerful and vibrant life force. We are intoxicated with ego and become
careless and unconcerned. We are not, even, under our own control. Also youth
is like a tempest and the fountain of youth depends upon our desire to look
young and fresh.
The old age is like a fall season and
is dejected, sad, sullen, sinking and dwindling stock. We soak with sweat but
we, mostly, become humble and like a simmering wick with the ravages of times.
This is a natural phenomenon of passing phases beyond our control.
Death is disintegration or
annihilation as our body is subject to decay. It emerges as a life force again
after the intervening period (cusp) between life and soul. Death is not a full
stop or final destination of our life but a comma in our on-going and never
ending life journey. Everything comes under the stroke of destruction and then
renews unless there is total liberation. Death is nothing but a door to eternity.
Unfortunately, even at old age people are attached to worldly things. They have
so penchant with life that they try to circumvent death.
Without death people will become
diseased, mad, mindless, uncared for and unattractive. Relationships will
down-grade. Sick people are dwindling stock and are, mostly, treated as inhumane,
without love or regard. They will be faltering, feeble, senile and look like moving corpses.
They will be jostling and wrangling with one another. There will be brawls,
blood-bath, looting and despondency. Without death, ego, attachments, desires
and demonic instincts will increase. Also death and destruction are the
balancing acts of God.
If we don’t become weak, dwindle,
die, and disposed off the earth will be fully covered with rotten stock. Death
is a divine system of riddance/emancipation from worldly sorrows. Human body is
a mortal coil.
As the power of our birth and death
is vested with Supreme Lord we should completely surrender to Him and dedicate
our life in His service. Let Him manage our affairs. We are simply tools in His
hands.
At the time of death the soul
(‘Atma’) which is free, infinite and unattached and the vital energy, flies to
the next abode as wished by the Life Giver, as per our ‘karmas’ or deeds.
Taking new birth as a new entity is like opening a new chapter in life and
death is its closure and the past deeds become history. This birth indicates
coming of a new flower for its fragrance to waft in the air of the whole world.
Change is ingrained in nature like
change in seasons and growth of seasonal fruits and vegetables etc. In the same
way changes come into life from birth till death and the cycle continues. We
make several resolutions every year for a change. Hours, days, months, years
and centuries/ generations change for the sake of a change to make our lives
lively and lovely.
A living body is an abode of soul and
knowing soul also means the futile importance of ‘I’/ our body. Chandogya
Upanisad says that those who meditate upon the self and realize the self go
beyond decay and death, beyond separateness and sorrows. Soul never dies but is
transformed/ switched over or a twist into another body and thus the life hums
again and again somewhere else. Life and death are jugglery of illusion only.
To live happily here and in God’s
abode you have to win the hearts of the people and of God with your virtues and
selfless service. It is a quality of life which matters, not quantity. Fear of
death with hope of rebirth encourage and exhilarate us to live life fully and
purposefully.
