HELLISH PITCH DARK LIFE
_A P ANAND, MUMBAI
Darkness describes dismal, murky,
dusky and mysterious situations. All these situations create fear, despair and
hollowness in our life. Presently we are passing through “Kali Yuga” (Dark era)
and life is degrading day-by day due to our own faults. The bells are ringing
heavily to alert us but we are still in deep slumber and do not give ears to
such important warnings. Man has attained animal instincts and we are groping
in the dark to find out answers and clues to get rid of our follies. We have
still to confront many issues/problems which have cast debilitating effect in
our country. Showing dereliction, carelessness and shirking responsibilities
towards family and society will only further our miseries. The present sorry
state of affairs with frowning and dreadful face is the reflection of society’s
life style.
The world is confused and in chaotic
conditions. Unethical people are aiding and abetting for destruction of human
life and property in the name of religion through barbaric means. There are no
doctrines, morals, ethics and guidance followed. Tolerance, respect,
compassion, love, faith and human values have vanished from our life. Our life
boat is drifting hither and thither and is rudderless on the high tides of sea
of life. The world is mostly unruly, battered and plagued with rancor and
retribution due to many ugly day-to-day events taking place. Law and order
situation is completely in disarray and crippled. Corruption of all kind has
spread its fangs due to our greed but not need. There is character
assassination at highest rate and the perpetrators are let loose and the
judiciary is heavily loaded to dispose of the cases speedily. Discrimination
based on religion, caste and creed etc. is like deep rooted festering wound
which should be nipped in the bud. There is darkness all around and it seems
that we have lost the insight and key to solve our problems. Unfortunately, we
have perceived the freedom, so dearly obtained, as irresponsibility considering
it palatable according to our own conventions.
If you visualize yourself like a
blind person like Helen Keller with intellect of third eye (Chakshu in Hindi),
you will realize the values of light and the importance of freedom. Also ask
those who have experienced the happenings during “Umasaya’s” pitch dark night
and have come out of it exuberantly. One enjoys the bliss and grace of Lord
when the first gentle radiant sun rays are strewn on the earth in the morning.
These rays also sustain life on earth. We observe the birds chirping and flying
over our heads, gentle wind blowing and the flowers smiling
bewitchingly, all display an enchanting and thrilling spectacle of Mother
Nature to uplift/ perk up our mood. Think deeply and wisely as to what
Parmahansa Yogananda said, “Love the alluring rose, but love the Maker of the
rose more, much more—for without His beauty rose could not manifest in its
resplendent beauty.”Think, what will happen when the dazzling brilliance light
of the sun does not appear on the horizon (or dispel the darkness) or the air,
water and ground are absent in our life. We will not exist and the life will
become dull, gloomy, sinking and we may get diseases and toxins and may affect
the environment. Like the light we are enlightened by the saints/ luminaries
who always stress on transparency, accountability, righteousness, truth,
justice, character building and value-based education to face the upheavals of
life as these are opposite to ignorance/ darkness/ eclipse which cloud our
vision and mind.
In view of above we have to revamp
our sorry state of affairs and have to fight against all odds to lead happy and
undisturbed life. A strong diplomatic and diligent hand is very much needed in
taming, sizing up/ clipping the extra wings and disciplining the wrong doers.
Some brave head-honchos/ brain stormier and torch-bearers from all strata are
required to engage others and come forward to set the things right before it is
too late. Life is beautiful and fascinating only if we add value to it and
remove its prickly/ stingy thorns gently. With the help of our watch-dogs we
can avoid clandestine plans of conspirators to derail the country. Communal
harmony is the need of the hour. Inciting/ stoking fire and un-soliciting talks
should be curbed. A wide gap between the rich and the poor must be bridged to
avoid unrest/ uprising and frustration. The children are the foundation stone
of our nation. One has to first change and discipline self and sacrifice one’s
own comforts to make the foundation of children strong without pampering them.
Our many problems can be solved if some sincere and selfless people in
different countries rise to the occasion and resolve to make life on earth
worth living and remove obstacles/ uncertainties to maximum extent.
We can search the answers and
solutions to our intricate problems and questions within ourselves when the
wisdom dawns. Our lives will start flowering/ fructifying once we start
treading the path of spirituality. Our all shadows and darkness will vanish.
Our adversities, challenges, sorrows, pleasures and Lord’s blessings are part
of our life but only He, the God, is judge to impart justice as per our “Karma”
(deeds). With more the bruises in life, there is more advancement, clarity, sound and fearless
path. When our love inches towards God it acts like a brightening flame to remove
ignorance and turn our tides. Also one gets light of spirituality through the
shining and awakening divine discourses of the saints/ clerics etc. who help us
in our inner stirring, invoke inner potential and demystify our doubts. Our
righteousness purges our inner dross and we turn clean and humble. In
spirituality one feels the pinch of others as
one’s own
and also one gives precedence of the interest of others to his own.
Spirituality surpasses religion, as par excellence being in tune with the Great
Spirit. Also with spirituality one’s endurance limits/ resilience increase. Due
to righteousness, tolerance, honesty, humility, hope, faith, generosity,
socializing being interdependent, stress busting and solidarity hone-up the
character and the quality of life improves. One is never disheartened with
failures but leaves destiny to God. If we can check our temptations and control
our senses the future is bright as this character leaves a great impact on our
life. To stem the rot we should introduce spirituality in school curriculum to
avoid many pitfalls.
We can draw
solace only when everyone’s, especially of a common man, life is made
comfortable and pleasant. Words run short to throw sufficient light on the
sufferings of the people. Hope wise counsel will prevail.
